Two days of repeating it ad infinitum later...WELL, HERE WE ARE 8'D

My first ever contribution to the Undertale fandom, of my all time favorite character, Doctor W.D. Gaster!

Granted, I'd been a fan of him from the moment I heard about all of the secrets and ominous hints here and there, and just how much digging you had to do to find any of them, because as most of you who follow me know, I absolutely LOVE characters like that. They have a very powerful, melancholy sort of feel for me, and the haunting sound of Gaster's theme nailed it perfectly for me.

But after all the stuff I've seen, it was THAT VIDEO, Amella's Gaster, that took the prize for me.

A Gaster that rendered all your 'Determination' worthless, a black hole at the end of Genocide that could do what no other character could, and meet that little bastard Chara, and by extension, your character too, and deliver a punishment worthy of the crime.

Neither alive nor dead, powerful beyond comprehension, trapped in a prison of his own making, and unable to do anything until it's too late for everything else in Genocide...This video delivered on that idea and more, because that remix is absolutely fantastic.

Yes yes, I know, the actual animation is very simple, and a lot of this may just be my interpretation of it, but that's the point of it, isn't it? XD

Frankly I'm just happy to finally see a Gaster 'fight' that is at last free of the usual 'player wins/survives' format. it alwayssaddened me to know that no matter how good the characters were, or how heroic they were, they'd ultimately fall to you and Chara, due to the very mechanics of a game giving you an advantage. Which basically meant that you're the main character, so I mean, you're going to win XD

Here at last, is a take on it that finally turns that on it's head and as far as I'm concerned, is the headcanon ending of Genocide for me from now on 8'D

If I seem biased, it's because by now most of you should know that I absolutely despise Chara on every level (which is good, because you're supposed to hate the murderous little twerp), but I also kind of hate the ridiculous amounts of meta analysis and drama revolving around people picking apart the character on a bazillion different levels just to chase some sort of 'redemption' for them, and then to have the gall to take it a step further in some cases and tell others that their interpretation is inferior or less likely by actively distorting and misrepresenting facts.

I mean, I have heard people saying things like 'oh, Genocide Chara supporters say it's canon because they appear at the end of the Genocide route' while conveniently forgetting to mention that yes, Chara appears there...and proceeds to thank you for waking them up, and all your horrible actions to this point, before MURDERING YOU and then going on to presumably kill a lot more stuff.

Yes, you're a monster for waking Chara up...but, uh, unless I'm mistaken, I'm preeeeeeeeetty sure Chara is fully capable of being a monster all on their lonesome. You just enabled them.

And there you go, problem solved in like, what, less than a paragraph? And yet I have to hear about somebody going off to write a four part, legit essay saying Genocide Chara fanon is 'dying out' and 'least likely ' to be made canon in the event Toby Fox makes a statement.

That's like saying 'oh I don't want to analyze Gaster because there's not enough data, and it would just go around in circles of debate and theorycrafting, but here let me write like a bajillion pages detailing every minute detail about Chara and every theory ever about them, because that's totally different'

The point is, UT is a game. A great game, of course, with lots of secrets, and room for thought and theorycrafting, with lots of great characters.

But dear lord, it's getting to the stage where it's impossible to go anywhere without running into some pontificating bozo droning on and on and ONNNNNNNNNNNN about meta this, meta that, gray shades of morality, blah blah blah

JUST LEAVE IT ALONE FOR GODS' SAKES

On the subject of the pic, I hope you all enjoy! It was a bit of a challenge to color, I admit, since there's only so many shades of black you can use before it all turns into a featureless blob, but hopefully the lighting effects helped mitigate that somewhat. Beyond that, blame for the overall look, since she's the one who declared suits to be the best shit ever and Gaster would totally rock one.

...Needless to say, this was a philosophy I myself shared, and so here we are 8D

The scarf was my idea, since it'd serve as a pretty good substitute for the turtleneck/high collar he's normally portrayed with, plus it gives me a neat way to divide up the picture composition.
